Systems Engineering
Dr. Jim Lee leads the research efforts within the Mechanical Engineering Department related to Systems Engineering. Dr. Lee also serves as Assistant Dean of Engineering and is the Director for the College of Engineering Systems Engineering PhD program. Dr. Jim Lee is performing Systems Engineering research in two areas: (1) lean six sigma applications in manufacturing systems, and (2) economic analysis of energy systems. His research in lean six sigma includes development of integrated inventory management systems, production scheduling with quality constraints, manufacturing batch size reduction methods, lean manufacturing in material handling operations, quality inspection planning, and corporate modeling systems.
In the area of economic analysis of energy systems, his research involves energy management planning, energy assessment procedure, selection of wave energy technologies, evaluation of natural gas liquids recovery methods, , training and maintenance of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, and needs analysis in developing employee training program.
