Mechanical Engineering Student Advising
As a mechanical engineering student, you are assigned to an advisor when you enter the program, either as freshmen or transfer student. Advisors are identified for each student in your Student Profile, accesible through ULink. Advising for the coming semester(s) takes place during two weeks every semester designated as advising weeks. The dates of the advising weeks can be found in the University’s academic calendar every semester.
You are also encouraged to consult your advisor before dropping a course. Dropping a course that is a pre-requisite for another course in the curriculum may set back your graduation date by a semester or more.
If you have any questions regarding pre-requisite changes, course offerings, and courses taken elsewhere, after you have entered the UL Mechanical Engineering program, they can be addressed to individual advisors or the department head at any time.
Never assume that a course taken elsewhere and shown in their list of transfer credits will automatically apply towards your Mechanical Engineering degree. It is important to keep in mind that any course taken at UL where you earn less than a passing grade cannot be replaced with a course taken elsewhere. For the most current list of approved classes and grades, login to DegreeWorks from your Student Profile.
